Gabrieli’s “Pian e Forte” probably is entitled to this name due to it being the first work ever that has certain dynamic levels for quiet and loud. This work was composed in 1597 as a two-chours instrumental section (Primus Chorus and Secundus Chorus) and is part of the collection “Sacrae Symphoniae”. In addition it is also apart of the polyphonic vocal and instrumental passages.
