Jean-François Michel

Jean-François Michel was born on 6 March 1957. He studies his musical education from 1965 to 1976 at the Freiburg Conservatory. In 1975 he won the bronze medal at the International competition of Geneva. From 1976 to 1986 he played as a solotrometer at the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra.

Since 1986 he has been a teacher at the Freiburg Conservatory. Between 1991 and 2001 he taught at the Conservatory of Lausanne and from 1997 to 2004 in Geneva professional classes.

His solo appearances have brought him to many European countries, as well as to Japan, Brazil and Argentina. He is a leader in Europe, but also in other continents Master classes. He is a ember of the wind quartet Nov’ars, the composer ensemble Buccinatoris and plays in numerous orchestras.

At national and international competitions, Jean-François Michel is regularly invited to the Jury. He is currently teaching at the Conservatory of Freiburg, at the Freiburg University of Music Lausanne. His compositions are appreciated and performed all over the World. His style is characterized by openness;the range of his works ranges from contemporary compositions to such works to the national music and takes into account pedagogical aspects.
