Duration ca. 4'
Difficulty 4
Item number   SWB09

The opera „I Lombardi alla prima Crociata“ is based on historical backgrounds which translated in an English title means „The Lombards at the first crossroads“. The opera was premiered in Milan in 1843 with great success and then quickly spread to the major opera stages. The opera has been composed as a grand opera. Nowadays this opera is rarely performed. The song „O Signore, dal tetto national“ is the so-called Choir of the Crusaders from the fourth act and opens the finale. This choir is similar to the Prisoners‘ chorus from the Nabucco in action and charisma. In the Italian public the Crusader Choir triggers a patriotic consent, but not regarding to the Hebrews, but rather towards their own Italian people.
