Mozart composed his concert for Oboe and Orchestra in C major probably in 1777 for the oboist Giuseppe Ferlendis. In 1778, however, Mozart wrote the concerto for the concerto in D major for flute and orchestra. Nevertheless, the concert in his version for Oboe remained as a standard work and is still regarded today as one of the most important solo concerts for this instrument.
The work has three sentences:
