• New publication: Antonio Vivaldi - Concert in C minor RV 401 / Carlo Balmelli -Transcription for Cello (Basson Euph. opt.) und Woodwind Ensemble

Vivaldi’s Concerto in C minor for cello, strings and continuo not only impresses with its enormous, expressive melancholy, but also with its filigree counterpoint. Moreover, it is truly noticeable at the beginning of the first movement. Vivaldi wrote his cello concerto in C minor in the usual three movement form (fast – slow – fast). Most of Vivaldi’s solo concerts were usually intended for home use or for small performances in churches and theaters. In the present transcription by Carlo Balmelli, the cello is accompanied by a woodwind ensemble. The solo part can also be performed by a bassoon or by an euphonium.
