• Neuerscheinung: Manuel de Falla - Danza Ritual de Fuego – from the Ballet «El Amor Brujo» / Carlo Balmelli - Transcription for wind orchestra

De Falla worked in 1914 on the one-act ballet “El Amor Brujo”, which was originally known under the name “Ginateria” (gypsy music), designed for fourteen musicians and a dance group that was premiered in Madrid. Sadly, this premiere was unsuccessful, causing the composer to fundamentally reinvent his work. De Falla shortened the ballet, removed the spoken dialogues and used three short pieces for Mezzo-soprano. In this presentation, the ballet then had hoped for success. At centre stage is the young woman Candela, who is haunted by the spirit of her dead lover whenever she wants to be with her new lover. All incantations and fire dances cannot help. Yet when Candela’s friend agrees to get involved with the spirit, calmness returns.
