• New release: Nikolai Y. Myaskovsky - DRAMATIC OUVERTURE Op. 60 / Carlo Balmelli -Transcription for Symphonic Wind Band

Myaskovsky is one of the most highly regarded composers of the first decades of the Soviet Union and an important figure in Russian music history. In 1948, Mjaskowski was one of the composers criticized as “formalists” in the decision of the CPSU Central Committee. He was a six-time Stalin Prize winner and a doctorate in cultural studies. Miaskovsky’s music is usually divided into three periods. The composer was more oriented towards the music of Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov in the first creative period, in his second creative period he however pushed the boundaries of tonality. In his third creative period, Miaskovsky often approached the Russian national romanticism of the 19th century.
