Johann Sebastian Bach – Brandenburg Concerto No. 6

Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 – 1750)

Brandenburg Concerto No. 6

Carlo Balmelli – Transcription for Brass Ensemble

Grad
Duration ca. 17'
Difficulty 5
Item No.   SWB63

The last of the six Brandenburg concerts is exceptional, especially in terms of its line-up, in view of its five previous concerts. The two solo violas and the solo cello are supported by only two viola da gamba, the violone and basso continuo (harpsichord). Bach assembled this work together from various older, previous works though these autographs are no longer retained. Bach wrote these six concerts for margrave Christian Ludwig von Brandenburg-Schwedt.
